TRUST CONNECTIONS

Balloch & Haldane community councillors are involved with a number of Trusts in West Dunbartonshire and are in fact directors to these Trusts. A short description of the various Trusts we "belong" to is handled in this category.

Community councillors are members of A Regeneration Group which had successfully managed a Master Plan for the Haldane since 2000. A Trust was formed in 2005 to acquire more diverse funding. The Trust dissolved in 2007 and reverted back to a committee, now called, The Mill of Haldane Community Association.

West Dunbartonshire Environment Trust (WDET) is now better known as just The Environment Trust.  It was formed in 2003 and envolved from the Social Inclusion Programme (SIP). The Trust is independent from the Local Authority and receives no direct funding from WDC.  The Trust however, relies on the local authority giving the various permissions to do environmental projects on their property and they do give "in kind" help maintaining certain aspects of our projects.  e.g. grasscutting.  The Trust built the BMX track shown here in 2005 in Drumry and this year (2010) erected an exciting play area to the south of the picture below.  This site is almost opposite B&Q on the Great Western Road.
