Welcome to Balloch & Haldane Community Council's community website. Our secretary has been learning about online publishing and building this website. Initial training came from National Park initiative. The site as you can see is has 'fixed' information with updates as time permits. The web browser used is 'Firefox' which can be downloaded free from the internet. The site will open in other web browsers.

It is hoped that the information provided through this site will enable the community of Balloch and Jamestown to better understand the role of a community council  and community councillors and what is being achieved in the area by a few volunteer community-minded people.

The site has tourist information links to cater for the visitor who happen to come across the site.   Menus appear at left hand side and top bar.

You will notice A+ ; A- and Reset at the top left corner of the site.  Should you find the print too small to read please click on A+, perhaps twice.  Increasing the size may cause headings to run over. For the visually impaired please click on Text Only.  Scroll to bottom to find link back to graphics and text.

Some categories have "teaser" text to introduce a story, click on read more to see full story. Captions are imbedded in the pictures which allow a pass of the pointer/cursor to activate the text.

Links to: Documents, pdf's, web links, photo links, menu links, etc. are indicated by a colour change to RED as you pass the cursor over the green text or box round picture will change to RED. (pdf's require Acrobat to open). Download free, latest Acrobat reader from Adobe site.

The 'log in' menu is for access to files like the draft minutes of the community council and letters. Log in is reserved for Community Councillors. Past minutes are available in Balloch Library if you wish to see them. 99% of the  site can be viewed without logging in. The main reason for the 'log in' is that the Heritage group may have copyright material held on the site which cannot be viewed by the public until copyright clearance is given.  It allows the group to view material within the site for their research into local heritage. Note: The register option is by invitation only.
