Balloch & Jamestown PDF Print E-mail

Balloch & Jamestown were part of Bonhill Parish as can be read in the short history section. Community council boundaries are completely different from Ward boundaries and are designed to encompass communities. We encompass two community areas Balloch and Jamestown. The boundary is difficult to put in writing so the map below coloured pink shows our original boundary with west Balloch (bottom blue area) added some 2 years later after making representations to the Local authority to include the whole community of Balloch in our area.

Our area was determined many years ago as was the name Balloch & Haldane Community Council. A more representative name would have been Balloch & Jamestown community council as the Haldane is a housing estate in Balloch. There was a township of over 300 people in Haldens Mill over 100 years ago and this is where the population of Balloch originated. Our boundary starts at Auchincarroch Rd then follows the centre of the River Leven to Lomond Bridge, then up Lomond Rd to the Stoneymollan roundabout, along the A82 to where a burn exits into Loch Lomond at the promontory Loch Lomond shores. Crosses Loch Lomond to Balloch Burn on the east bank onto road down past Robin house, down to Ballagan garage, along Stirling Rd, round the Mill of Haldane, up the Tinkers Loan to the Auchincharoch Rd again. We represent about 6,000 people living in the area.
